The Woollybear Festival is the largest one day festival in the state of Ohio. Fox 8 Meteorologist Dick Goddard wants you to be a part of the fun as the annual Woollybear Parade takes over Vermilion.

The final 2007 Third Thursday, Music Flowers & A Sunset, took place September 20th. September's night of musical entertainment was one of the biggest and best to date. Robin Swoboda, from FOX 8 TV, taped her program “That’s Life” in Vermilion on Thursday.

The Vermilion Port Authority hosted the 4th Annual Vermilion Duck Derby Race on August 19th at the Vermilion River. The event took place at Red Clay on the River/McGarvey's Landing. Red Clay also offered a Wine Tasting on the docks.

Eclectic might be the best word to describe the Vermilion Arts Guild July Artist of the Month show. It is a Roth family show and includes the work of three well known siblings - Sue Roth Coton Opperman, Cindy Roth Weeks and their brother Dan -- as well as their children.

June 16, Saturday at Vermilion Family YMCA, 320 Aldrich Road, Vermilion. Registration begins at 8:00 am. 5K Race begins at 9:00 am. 1 Mile Walk/Run begins at 9:05 am. Scenic 5K (3.1 Mile) Course. Flat, fast, mile splits. 1 Mile Fun Walk for all ages! T-shirts to he first 175 registered participants.

Third Thursdays continue in Vermilion's Harbour Town. Stroll through historic downtown Vermilion while being serenaded. An exciting array of free musical entertainment scattered throughout downtown.

The annual Lighted Boat Parade takes place at dusk on the Vermilion River on Saturday during the Festival Of The Fish. The theme for the parade is "Anything Goes". Boaters are encouraged to use their imaginations.

Vermilion's Festival of the Fish is one of the largest festivals in the area. Every year the city of Vermilion celebrates the sea on a grand scale with parades, boat parades, races, pageants, contests, food, entertainment, markets and much more. This is a "don't-miss" event of the year Father's Day Weekend.

The Crazy Craft Races take place on Saturday during the Fish Festival at 1 pm on the Vermilion River. The event is open to all, so all you need is some imagination to build whatever kind of vessel inspires you. Join the fun at the City Ramp between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. The vessels then sail from the Public Boat Ramp to the Water Works Marina going with the rivers natural flow. Over $1500 in prize money awarded for theme, design, creativity, construction, engineering, effort, enthusiasm and spirit.

The Vermilion River is a scenic gem which includes a mix of cape cod style residences, fine dining, and many boating related businesses. In the center of Vermilion, within walking distance from the River, is a historic district which is host to two festivals and a summer full of events. Entertainment for the entire family can be found all summer long. Come visit Vermilion and you'll soon see why over 2800 boats call the port of Vermilion home.

Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate cancer survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society. Vermilion Relay For Life is part of the largest special event in the entire country, generally held over a 24 hour period, in over 3,000 communities nationwide. This is a celebration that brings together people from all walks of life, neighbors, friends, work associates and families with the common goal of celebrating those who have survived cancer and remembering those who have not. The event represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.

Arts Guild of Vermilion opened a new gallery on Friday, June 1 in the Harbour Store building (formerly Hammons Bakery) on Liberty. The gallery hours will be 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday through Saturday and 12:00 to 5:00 on Sundays. A portion of all sales will be given to the Arts Guild to defray the cost of utilities and marketing.

The Vermilion Veteran's Council began Memorial Day events with flags placed at Maple Grove and Rugby cemeteries on Friday, May 25 at 6 pm. The flags will remain until Flag Day. On Sunday, May 27 Color Guards held services at Volunteer Bay at 2 pm. Services followed at 3 pm at the Inn at Chappel Creek. Veterans formed at Exchange Park at 8 am to raise and lower the flag to half-staff and place the wreath. At 9 am the flag at Maple Grove was raised and lowered to half-staff and the wreath placed. Veterans formed at Ferry Street at 10 am for the parade. Memorial Day Services began at at Victory Park at 11 am. Army Veteran Terry Maher was the speaker.

The Artseen Gallery held an opening reception on May 25th in downtown Vermilion. The gallery exhibits contemporary works by area artists in the former Liberty Theater. The opening exhibit is "Mined Games".

Music Flowers & A Sunset, Downtown Vermilion - Every Third Thursday Evening May-Sept. Ed Rhinehart and his enthusiastic group of volunteers will provide beautiful music all summer long. Be sure to come early so that you can walk around town and enjoy all the wonderful musicians who donate their time for this event.

Vermilion's legendary prom tradition lived up to its reputation on Saturday, May 12th as the Vermilion High School was transformed into "Rio Carnivale". Thousands of spectators showed up to watch students arrive in antique cars, tractors, hummers, wagons, limousines and more to make their walk down the red carpet.
